The McDowell Chamber of Commerce Executive Director, Steve Bush, will be joining a panel of speakers for a discussion about the impacts of COVID-19 and the influence of the health insurance coverage gap in Western North Carolina.
Care4Carolina is pleased to co-host this event with the Community Foundation of Western North Carolina as well as AMY Wellness Foundation, Western Carolina Medical Society, Blue Ridge Health, WNC Bridge Foundation, Pisgah Health Foundation, and Mountain Area Health Education Center (MAHEC).
During the Virtual Forum, we will have a panel of local experts share their perspective on COVID-19 and the impact that it has had in the western part of our state. Speakers will cover a variety of topics, including: the economic impact of the pandemic and rising unemployment rates, challenges to our health systems, health disparities, and the struggles that community health and public health professionals face in confronting the virus.

Care4Carolina’s director, Erica Palmer Smith, will also offer insight on policy options to address concerns discussed during the forum. Participants will also have the opportunity to engage with the panel and fellow participants to discuss the health care issues our state is facing related to the health insurance coverage gap.
