Story --from their website
Jones von Drehle Vineyards & Winery is a family-owned farm established in 2007 by two families, Diana and Chuck Jones and Ronnie and Raymond von Drehle. Diana and Ronnie are sisters making this a family business. All four owners are all originally from NC, Chuck from the Asheville area and Diana, Ronnie, and Raymond from Hickory, North Carolina.
The Estate winery, producing our wines solely from the 30 acres of fruit we grow on this property. They buy no fruit or juice from anyone and have been that way from the beginning. So, really, the vineyard controls our destiny. They are an Old World Classical French-style winery with dry wine varietals such as Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon, Malbec, Petit Verdot, Cabernet Franc, Viognier, and Steel and Barrel Chardonnay and many more.
Our Family’s Farm --from their website
Our family farm made its first dairy shipment on June 6, 1927, and we have been milking cows ever since. Ed English and his wife Maggie started the farm and set up a small store where they sold milk, sour cream, butter and eggs.
During the farm’s 85+ years as a dairy operation, both Jersey and Holstein cows have been milked for fluid milk production. After many years of selling to a milk co-op and many neighbors who kept asking for the family’s cheese made in the farm house kitchen, we decided to start offering our cheeses to the public. We now have our own farm store, selling farm fresh English Farmstead Cheese products and other local fare.
