Her devout affection for animals began at a young age, says Debbie Williamson, owner of Tri-Cities Pets
located at 1700 N. Main Street. "I wanted to be a vet when I was younger," she recalls. Although vet school never materialized, Debbie and her husband Matthew are living out a pretty sweet dream of caring for, selling, and educating the public about a variety of critters.
At the recent Ribbon Cutting, the Chamber staff and ambassadors were given a grand tour of the store and were introduced to myriad of birds, reptiles, aquatic life and witnessed first hand Debbie's passion for all of them. The only store of its kind in McDowell, Tri-Cities Pets specializes in pets that don't necessarily have special shows like Puppy Bowl and Cats 101. Here, you'll find hamsters, mice, rats, chinchillas, rabbits, ferrets, and Guinea pigs along with feathered beauties such as finches, parakeets, cockatoos, parrots, and conures. If you prefer the slithering sort of companion, the shop has lizards, snakes, spiders, and scorpions.
An expanded space toward the back of the store will house McGee's Aquatic Creations, including fresh and salt water fish in a variety of species. They also grow their own coral and have all the supplies for maintaining and beautifying your fish tank. Ask them about installation in your home or office.
Debbie enjoys helping her customers not only find the perfect pet, but also working with them to educate them on the specific needs and care requirements of these special creatures.
